  • Overview

    The Cloud Systems Administrator position is technical in nature and will act as a subject matter expert along with other administrators to be responsible for the company’s cloud initiatives. This includes leading and contributing to the design, deployment and support of our Cloud IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS architectures and solutions. The Cloud system administrator will work closely with IT associates of other disciplines such as telephony, systems/cloud infrastructure, and enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience with cloud deployment and governance models as well as development methodologies and best practice process integration with infrastructure and security operations. The candidate must also have a demonstrated focus, understanding and experience in infrastructure, cloud and hybrid environment deployments, management and administration to include storage, directory services, configuration management, high availability, and operational support. Additionally, this person will possess a strong drive to learn new technologies, but also a propensity for seeking extreme depth in their understanding of technologies and solutions, drawing from an extensive engineering and architectural background and experience.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Hands on Cloud System Administration Tasks
    • Manage, maintain and build IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS business systems in Cloud environments
    • Support and maintain production systems hosted in Cloud environment
    • Support deployment and configuration of applications in Cloud environment
    • Perform system configuration and patch management
    • Document all platform service processes and procedures and maintain the artifacts in a document repository
    • Review, monitor and escalation of system and security alerts
    • Communicate with stakeholders
    • Research and correct problems identified
    • Work in a rapid paced environment and work independently
    • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
    • Assist in architecture discussion, development, planning, and executing upgrades and changes within the Cloud environment.
    • Perform daily system monitoring and reviews; verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes; reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups

    • Ability to follow a structured change management / deployment methodology

     

     

    Qualifications

    • At least 6-year commercial experience in AWS System Administration
    • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate
    • At least 5 years commercial experience with networking technologies and principles in Microsoft Systems and Network Administration
    • 4-5 years of experience with governance of cloud resources using role-based access control (RBAC)
    • 4-5 years of experience with automation and scripting such as Powershell
    •  
    • In-depth experience building and managing IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS in AWS environments
    • Expert level experience in Windows Server Administration / Performance Tuning
    • Expert level experience in Active Directory
    • Minimum 4 years of “tier 3” escalated incident response and troubleshooting
    • Understand virtualized environments, backup, and configuration
    • Thorough understanding of infrastructure/cloud best practices along with key systems architecture consideration
    • Implement scalable solutions to meet the service levels associated with large volumes of users or records to be processed.
    • Experienced working in an agile environment and within a small team
    • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines without compromising close attention to detail and accuracy
    • Proactive problem solver with a can-do attitude with the ability to quickly assess problems and find workable solutions
    • Proven ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with IT/Ops, Customer Support, Engineering, QA and other stakeholders
    • Attention to detail and quality without compromising close attention to detail and accuracy
    • The ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
    • A strong work ethic, expressed through the willingness and ability to acquire new skills, multitask, and take on projects outside immediate areas of expertise
    • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)

    • Self-driven with ability to quickly learn technology and eager to stretch their skills

    • Familiar with ITIL standard practices and procedures a plus

     

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

     

    Work Environment and Physical Demands

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to lift and carry 40+ lbs. Ability to pull and terminate Cat6 cabling.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. The daily schedule may vary from 8 am to 5 pm or 9 am to 6 pm. Hours may vary or exceed 40 in any given week depending on the needs of the business. On call hours will apply and incumbent may be required to come into the office on short notice as needs arise.

    No travel is expected for this position.
