Overview

The Business Intelligence Engineer III will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of reports that are executed on an automated subscription schedule or on demand by users in various business areas. You will become familiar with data and business processes supported by the data warehouse and operational computer applications as needed to support report development and resolve technical issues. You will be working independently and within a team and will be responsible for tracking the work assigned to reporting team members, resolve technical issues and estimate and schedule tasks. Business matters will be treated with the utmost urgency and focus on results and deadlines until each task or project is completed is key. The qualified candidate will display excellent problem solving, analytical, communication, coordination, and task management skills. Daily activities will include reviewing existing production reports, participating in daily planning meetings, providing estimates, handling ad-hoc requests, and tracking and communicating daily progress on projects and initiatives. This position will also take on various responsibilities throughout the department as assigned.

This is a full-time position based in our Spartanburg, SC office. The successful candidate will be expected to work onsite during regular business hours.

  • Assists new developers in understanding ACA’s processes, procedures, and workflow; hold knowledge sessions to assure clarity and content of training materials
  • Identify and recommend technical and process trainings
  • Assist the manager in driving department initiatives
  • Mentoring and coaching junior and mid-level BI engineers.
  • Define and document standards, guidelines and processes for report development and support
  • Ensure that Reporting, Data Warehouse and Database standards, guidelines and processes are followed
  • Provide architecture and design guidance to the developers; perform design and code reviews
  • Resolve technical issues in the report environment and provide alternate solutions
  • Lead reporting projects tasks, estimate effort, schedule tasks and drive project deliverables and schedules
  • Lead the requirement gathering from business users, review requirements
  • Work with business users to understand Reporting problems and provide solutions
  • Architect and Design complex solutions to meet reporting requirements
  • Ensure that the Reporting documentation is kept up to date
  • Optimize report performance and enhance Reporting Environment
  • Communicate project status with management
  • Suggest Process improvements across data warehouse and reporting systems
  • Administration of report server applications
  • Monitor and support (includes On-Call Support) IT Reporting Environment
  • Stay up to date on changes in reporting technology landscape, recommend software upgrades and evaluate and adapt to new technologies
  • Other tasks as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business, Math, Economic, Finance, Statistics, Science, Engineering, IT) preferred
  • 5+ years of Experience with modern reporting software – SSRS & Power BI Preferred
  • Solid understanding of relational databases and business data; ability to write complex SQL queries
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office applications (Access, Word, Excel)
  • Experience with Redshift, SQL Server & TSQL preferred
  • Experience with Bit Bucket preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills, especially when dealing with large and complex datasets.
  • Excellent communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and senior management.
  • Lending Experience is a plus
  • Ability to work independently or in a group
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Flexibility and openness to change; demonstrates high levels of professionalism and organizational skills
  • Communicating clearly and concisely to individuals from various backgrounds
  • Ability to influence others through verbal and written communication

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities but may serve as a lead to others on the team.

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position generally working a Monday through Friday 8 am – 5 pm schedule.

 

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.
