Overview

As a Bankruptcy Specialist (or Loss Mitigation Specialist), you will be responsible for a group of high-level risk bankrupt accounts and the application of Bankruptcy Code requirements to those accounts. This position analyzes and processes new bankruptcy filings of various chapters. This includes preparing and filing Proofs of Claims, assessing the impact to the business by knowing if an objection needs to be filed. This also includes receiving inbound calls, taking payments, as well as making outbound calls to attorney’s and/or trustees. This role operates fully onsite in our Spartanburg, SC office.

  • Handles most complex court documents and files proof of claims.
  • Follow up with courts for case compliance.
  • Determine plan viability and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Perform high level account analysis based on Bankruptcy Code and general collection law requirements.
  • Negotiate with attorneys and/or debtors where permissible.
  • May work directly with court personnel and attorneys.
  • File appropriate documents/forms directly with court.
  • May work or represent department on special projects.
  • Perform financial analysis on individual bankruptcy cases
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of previous Customer Service Experience 
  • Excellent problem solver, with ability to prioritize
  • Adept at navigating various computer applications
  • Proven ability to multi-task
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Ability to communicate effectively

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with a work schedule of Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm with some schedule variations as needed.

 

Travel

This position requires no travel.
